Material Obsession
“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Hebrews 13:5
Our society (me included) is so obsessed with our possessions. The amount of financial stress we put ourselves through just so we can have a nice _________ is nuts! And what’s even more insane is that those material items we are currently obsessing over will, in 5-10 years, either have failed us or be stirring in us a desire to upgrade.
The author of Hebrews reminds us that Jesus has, not just lifetime guarantee, but an eternal guarantee! He will NEVER fail us! I have to constantly check my investments and check my heart. Jesus tells us “Where your treasure is there your heart will be also.” If I am putting money into _________ then my heart is following it. Am I putting my money/heart into something that is ultimately not going to impact anyone or am I investing it somewhere that will last beyond my years?
